About Us

Why wax melts?

Wax melts are tiny powerhouses. Not only are they safer than candles, they offer plenty of fragrance, plenty of variety, and an easy way to change the atmosphere of your space.

  • electric warmers have no flame: Not saying melts aren't free of hazards, but you can enjoy home fragrance without lighting a wick and managing an open flame. Wax and wax warmers still become hot, so please use safely according to your warmer manufacturer's instructions!
  • no wick maintenance: No need to trim wicks between use, no debris to fish out of wax, or candle-burning habits to try and remember.
  • no smoke or soot: melts release fragrance without the combustion of a burning wick, though this does not apply to tealight warmers.
  • long-lasting: one piece from our standard snap bar can provide multiple uses, depending on your warmer and preferred fragrance strength. If you want to swap out the scent, simply let the wax cool down, stick it in the freezer and then pop the hardened wax out of your dish to remelt later.
  • economical: without the cost and weight of a glass or ceramic vessel, more of what you pay for goes toward the fragrance itself.
  • made for fragrance performance: wax melts vaporize fragrance, not wax. This means you will not be releasing microscopic wax droplets in the air and breathing it in. This allows makers to experiment with waxes that hold and release fragrance more effectively.
  • cute!: melts leave room for creativity. Playful molds, colors, mica, and heat-safe glitter allow each fragrance to have its own personality.

Why us?

Every ginkgo wax melt is poured by hand in small batches. Because we make our products ourselves, we have control over the fragrances, colors, and decorative elements that go into each design.

We use carefully selected ingredients, including phthalate-free fragrance oils, cosmetic-grade colorants, and heat-safe glitter where noted. We care about strong fragrance and beautiful design, but we care just as much about thoughtful testing, honest descriptions, and dependable customer service.

Online shopping can feel increasingly impersonal and uncertain. We may be new, but we are committed to making products we are proud to send and treating every customer like a real person.

Who's us?

Hi, I'm Bia.

I make everything you see at ginkgo, with photography help from my endlessly supportive partner, Matthew.

I am a second-generation Chinese American and part of the Asian diaspora. My heritage naturally finds its way into the fragrances, ingredients, and little details that inspire my work.

I'm also not neurotypical. After years of analyzing data and attending endless meetings in a corporate job, I felt increasingly pulled toward work that was creative, tangible, and better suited to the way my brain works. Welcome to my little corner of obsessive research and making things that bring me calm and excitement.

Thank you for supporting a woman-owned, Asian-owned, and neurodivergent-owned small business. It means more than you know.
